Let me guess: You've just wrapped up a successful project. Maybe your latest offer sold out faster than expected. Or maybe you had one of those lightbulb moments that made everything click.
You’re excited, right? You know there’s a story worth sharing. A lesson. A win. Something your audience needs to hear.
You open a blank doc or sit down to write a post, and your brain freezes. “How do I say this without sounding braggy? What if I already said this before? Do I need to start from scratch... again?”
One of the biggest myths in content creation is that every post needs to be brand new, completely original, and wildly creative. But here’s the truth: You don’t need more ideas, you just need a better way to use the ones you already have.
That’s where the One-Story Content Strategy comes in.
It’s simple. It’s sustainable. It’s effective. And once you learn how to use it, you’ll never look at content creation the same way again.
Welcome to one of my favorite systems! One idea. Five different ways. Ready? Let’s break it down.
What is the One-Story Content Strategy?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: taking one meaningful story, result, or transformation and turning it into five strategic pieces of content.
Not five random posts. Five intentional, diverse, high-performing angles that:
Serves different audience types
Reinforce your credibility without sounding like a broken record
Build connection and momentum around your message
This concept aligns beautifully with ideas I shared in The Content Formula That You Need, where we focus on building trust subtly and steadily over time. The One-Story Strategy gives you a system to do exactly that without the burnout.

How to Choose the Right Story to Repurpose
Before we dive into how to break it down into five posts, let’s start at the beginning. What makes a great story? Here are a few signs your story is ripe for repurposing:
It features a clear before-and-after transformation.
There's client success, personal insight, or milestones involved.
It taps into an emotional truth (something your audience deeply relates to)
You learned a valuable lesson from it.
Pro tip: Don’t wait for "huge" results. Even small wins, like someone finally hitting publish after months of hesitation—can be incredibly impactful and relatable.
Let’s walk through it together with a real example.
Meet Jess, one of my incredible clients. Jess helped a client grow their email list by 2,000 subscribers in 30 days. Huge win, right? But she almost didn’t share it.
"It feels braggy," she said. "I don’t want to sound like I’m just posting for clout."
Fair. So here’s what we did instead:
1. The "Before & After"
We started with a transformation story. We wrote about where the client began (low visibility, stagnant growth, unsure email strategy) and the results we helped create. No fluff, just honesty.
This was the most emotional post of the series. Why? Because people love a journey. It’s relatable. It shows what’s possible. People can put themselves in her shoes. This technique is also mentioned in How to Position Your Brand as a Solution, people don’t buy your services; they buy the transformation.
2. The "Behind-the-Scenes"
Next, she shared her process. What tools did she use? What decisions made the biggest difference? What almost went wrong?
People want to know how the magic happens. Sharing the method behind the result shows expertise without overselling. If you’ve read Fine-Tuning Your Marketing Strategy, you’ll remember that systems are key to content that works without wearing you out. Behind-the-scenes posts are the heart of sustainable, authentic strategy.
3. The "Client Testimonial"
Then, we reached out for a testimonial. But instead of just dropping a quote in a Canva graphic, Jess told a story about the moment she got the message: "I hit 2K!"
That small moment turned into a powerful social proof post and sparked new leads. Remember that client stories build trust.

4. The "Quick Tips"
Jess then distilled three practical takeaways for anyone trying to grow their own list. Think: short, sharp, and usable.
This is the post people saved. The kind they DM to friends. Value-driven, bite-sized. In fact, short, actionable tips are one of the pillars of consistent engagement, as discussed in Maximizing Your Marketing. They’re easy to create and even easier for your audience to apply.
5. The "Hot Take"
Finally, she shared her opinion: "Most lead magnets are boring."
Hot take? Absolutely. But it opened up a conversation about what actually works, and allowed her to showcase her expertise again in a fresh way.
Why This Strategy Works So Well
When you commit to telling one story five different ways, something powerful happens: your content becomes naturally more consistent. Instead of scrambling each week for something new to say, you’re building on a strong foundation, one message, expanded across multiple formats and perspectives. This consistency builds trust. Your audience starts to recognize your themes, your voice, and your authority.
At the same time, this strategy helps you create depth, not just volume. Rather than producing five disconnected posts, you’re crafting a narrative ecosystem, each post reinforcing the others, offering new context, new insights, and new ways to connect. You’re not just shouting louder; you’re speaking more clearly.
And finally, this strategy strengthens your authority. When you share a win from multiple angles, you're not just showcasing what happened; you’re showing how it happened, why it mattered, and what others can learn from it. You position yourself as a guide, not just a service provider.
Common Repurposing Mistakes to Avoid:
Now before you rush off to do the same (yay!), let’s talk about a few mistakes I see often:
Copy-pasting with no angle change: Each post needs its own purpose. Don’t just reword it—reframe it.
Not considering your audience’s journey: Some people need proof. Some need steps. Some need emotion. Speak to all of them.
Forgetting the call-to-action: Don’t let the conversation drop. Tell them what to do next—DM you, click the link, comment, save, etc.
These are the same content pitfalls I talk about in my other blog posts—because overwhelm often stems from trying to do too much, too fast, without a strategic lens.
